For the 4th of July, I wanted to make something to pay homage to the day and what better treat than brownies? For my brownies I added 2 tbs. of sour cream rather than a whole cup of oil, like in boxed brownie mixes,I wanted to keep the same texture and taste while making it healthier. Check out my recipe below:
- 1/2 stick of salted butter
- 1 cup chocolate chip (dark chocolate)
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 tbs. coco powder (unsweetened)
- 1/2 tbs. baking powder
- 2 tbs. sour cream
Third, you will need an 8 1/2 x 11 cake pan, buttered and coco-ed (instead of flour substitute this with coco powder), set your oven for 350F and bake for 20 mins.
For a fun decorative touch, combine a 2-1 powdered sugar to coco mix for the brownie topping. This charming touch is less sugar than frosting or adding another cup of chocolate chips into the mix and encapsulates pure goodness.
